We keep the drawing. Not the photo.
Honest product note — not a polished policy
Ginger Spotter is built so a catch can be funny to share without turning into a face-photo archive. This page says what the software is designed to do today.
The discard
When you spot someone (camera or upload), the app scores Ginger Power on the raw frame, generates a fairground caricature, then discards the raw photo as soon as it can — including a best-effort zero of the pixel buffer. Demo faces are synthesized drawings, then follow the same score → caricature → discard path.
The souvenir is the ink/marker caricature. The candid is not stored as the collectible.
What is stored now
- The caricature image (a drawing), not the raw photo
- Ginger Power score and a short label
- Coarse coordinates only — rounded to about 0.01° (~1 km), never a precise GPS point
- Local badges / capture count in this browser
- A display name you can set on the board (counts only)
Today that lives in your browser’s local storage. There is no account required to try the app.
What is not stored
- Raw camera frames or uploaded photos after caricature
- Exact street-level location
- Face-photo galleries, DMs, or a social graph
- Payment details — this lander does not sell anything
Location
Location is optional. If the browser shares it, we coarsen it. If it does not, you can drop a pin by hand. The heat map is supposed to be “this neighborhood had a ginger,” not “this doorway.”
Later, maybe a hosted log
If catches start syncing beyond this device, the rule stays the same: drawing + score + coarse pin. Not the raw photo. This page will be updated if that ships.
Wipe
In the playable app, History can clear local spots, badges, and capture counts. Clearing site data in the browser does the same job.
This site
The apex marketing pages are static. They do not take catches and do not ask for a camera. Standard hosting logs (IP, user agent) may exist at the CDN or host. We do not put tracking pixels or ad networks on these pages.
